About TinyGem

My name is  Vlad (my site, twitter, what I read) and I enjoy building things. I created TinyGem as a repository for links I want to study later and to automate the content discovery by using my saved links as a seed for the recommendations.

Before TinyGem, I used to first open Hacker News and email myself links I want to read later. And there would always be good stories I would miss. Now I can share to TinyGem with an iOS shortcut or a browser bookmarklet. TinyGem will also make sure I do not miss anything interesting to me, not just from Hacker News but from aggregrators and newsletters around the web.

TinyGem may look minimal and frugal but it is very capable content saving and discovery service. To my knowledge, recommendation system used by TinyGem is unrivaled on the market for this type of content and target audience.

For example check out this content recommendation:

Opensourced IFTT with N8n.io (tech.davidfield.co.uk)

15 hours ago from hn | related to “Processing RSS feeds with Repl.it”

The two articles do not share keywords in the title, but because TinyGem uses semantic similarity (of not just the title but also the article summary) it was able to surface an article related to user's previously saved article.

Furthermore, TinyGem crawls only high quality, non-commercial sources. We try to avoid listicles, "news" and SEO spam.

TinyGem is a free service, with future premium features planned for power users (for example larger language models for better recommendations).
